Go to the Beach at Night
Nighttime is the right time to hit the beach. Try these activities to make your night at the beach magical!
- Hula hoop on the sand. The stars and moon will light up the waves as you spin and twirl around, making it easier for you to see where you’re going.
- Take a walk along the shore. As you walk, look for shells that have washed ashore as well as seashells lying in deeper waters for more advanced explorers.
- Go swimming under a full moon! Remember: It’s safer if there are other people around so take advantage of their company!

Sunburn is the most common skin ailment in the United States, and it can ruin your vacation. Remember to wear sunscreen with a high SPF and not just on your face but also on your hands, feet and other exposed areas of skin. Wearing a hat will help keep you cool while also protecting your head from sun damage (and looks cute). Sunglasses are another good way to protect both eyes from UV rays and reduce squinting.
Keeping hydrated is part of staying safe in the sun. Water helps keep us cool by absorbing heat through evaporation—the more water we drink, the faster our bodies will release that heat into the air around us!

Build a Sand Castle and Do a Sand Sculpture Competition with Your Friends.

- Start by choosing your location. If you have a beach, it’s much easier to do this activity. Make sure that there are no large rocks or sharp pieces of glass that might hurt anyone if they step on them while they’re building their sand castle.

This can be as simple as letting everyone know whose sand castle is the best after all time has passed, or more complicated with trophies for first place, second place, etc..
